Summary

Here are some examples of how to publish an article, a photoalbum or a YouBioIt.com page as well as upload images to YouBioIt; and how to use the featured commands and tools.

Edit / submit page

This image shows the main fields of a Biography edition page. However most articles types have similar main fields in their edition pages.

This image shows the body editor and the album link field. If you want to link a photogallery with your article you must enter the title of that album in the Albums field. The autocomplete feature will help you sometimes with title names.

Attached Teaser Image upload

This image shows how to add teaser images in articles. It's pretty straightforward, just upload an image clicking in "Browse" and then optionally enter an image title in the field located below the Image uploader.

Related Articles Links

The image shows us how to add links to related Youbioit articles. For example if you are writing an article about the Apollo Missions and there is another article already related you can add a link to that one. Also it is ideal for those creating a whole set of articles divided into chapters or sections and linked together with this system.

In order to add a related article link, just add the title of that article and that's it. Pretty easy huh? The autocomplete feature of Youbioit will help you finding the title while you are writing it.

Once you added the title of a new article, then Youbioit will also add automatically the article number using this format nid[x] where x is the article number.

There are no limits in the number of related articles links included. However, each time you submit a new article you can add up to five links. Then if you want to add more links, each time you open the article editor and add links, more fields will be available for filling.

Keywords and Related External Links

This image shows how to add keywords which will help other people as well as search engines find your article. Remember the best way to achieve that, is adding words or short phrases related with the article's main subject. Keep it short for better results and don't add more than 15 words as that would lower its popularity in search engines and therefore less people would find it.

A second feature shown in this image is the external links field. In your articles you can add links to other sites. It's pretty easy, just add the address of the website you want to link to and optionally a title next to it. If you omit the title, the link will show the address, otherwise it will show the title.

Here is an example:

www.myexamplesite.com My Example Site

Remember the website address and the optional title must be separated by a space.

For more than one link, you have to add them one by line. In such a case, the first on the first line, the second on the second and so on so forth.

Articles Access Restriction option

The Optional Access Restriction checkbox, gives you the possibility of switching your article to a restricted mode, whereby it becomes visible only to friends. Nevertheless this will make it less popular and inaccessible to search engines. So, unless you are building a private group or you just don´t want to share your article with everyone but friends, this is not recommended for someone who wants to share the article with as many people as possible or in other words, the whole world.

By default this option is unchecked, so the article is accessible to everyone.

Photoalbum link in articles right column

When you link a specific photoalbum with an article, this is how the link to the album is shown in the article right column.

Related Articles

This is how related links are shown in the right column of an article.

Image Editor

Basically the Image Editor looks quite similar to common articles editors. However there are some differences.

First, it is necessary to choose a Photoalbum where this image will be submitted. You have to select the album from the YouBioIt Albums dropdown menu. By default your root user photoalbum is selected, so in order to submit the image in other album you have to select it from the aforementioned dropdown menu.

Another feature of this editor is the Rotate Image dropdown menu. Here you can rotate your image 90º clockwise each time or 90º counterclockwise each time. By default, the no rotation option is selected.

Create the Root Photoalbum

When you register and become member of Youbioit you have to create a Root photoalbum in order to submit images. This is easy, you must click on the CREATE YOUR ROOT PHOTOALBUM link located in the left column and that´s it, your user root photoalbum will be created automatically after that.

Once created the root photoalbum, you can upload your images there, as well as create new subalbums inside.

Multiple Images Uploader

If you want to upload more than one image at the same time; first, you have to open the photoalbum where you will upload the images. Once there in the album, you must click the Submit Multiple Images tab link, and the uploader page will open. You can upload up to five images at the same time. So if you want to upload more than five images, you have to open again the uploader after submitting the first set of five images and upload the second set of images, and so on so forth.

Image Notes Editor

You can add as many notes as you wish over your images. For example, you can use those notes in a family or friends picture showing who is who by adding their names over each member of the picture.

To add notes over an image, you have to open that image and click the Add/Edit Notes tab link.

Once the Notes Editor is open you will see the little notes-toolbar above the image.

To add a note, click the Add Note button, and a rectangle will show up over the image. This is the rectangle where the note will be added. You can resize it as well as move it all over the image, to your desired position.

Below the image, an edit box will show up.That edit box contains two fields, one for the Note Title and another one for the content. If you just want to add simple names, you can omit the content field and leave it empty.

Once you are done, click OK and that´s it.

If you want to Edit and already existing note, you must click over the note rectangle you want to edit and then press the Edit Note button, and the note edit box will open below the image.

In case you want to delete a note, just click over the note-rectangle you want to clear and press the Delete Note button.

Image Notes Edit-Box

Once the Notes Editor is open you will see the little notes-toolbar above the image.

In case you want to delete a note, just click over the note-rectangle you want to clear and press the Delete Note button.

Photoalbums Editor

Basically the Photoalbums Editor looks pretty much the same with common articles editors. However there are some differences.

First, it is necessary to choose a Photoalbum where this album will be submitted in. You have to select the album from the Parent dropdown menu. By default your root user photoalbum is selected, so in order to submit the album in other album you have to select it from the aforementioned dropdown menu. In case you don´t have other albums it will be submitted in the root one.

Another feature of this editor is the Sort By dropdown menu. This gives you the option to choose how you want the images to be sorted inside this album.

The available options are:

   1. Use Global Settings: Older images show first (this is the default option in Youbioit)
   2. Latest Post First
   3. Posted Order
   4. Alphabetical Order
   5. Reverse Alphabetical Order
   6. Chronological order by creation date: (Creation date of the image)
   7. Reverse chronological order by creation date

Another feature of the Albums editor is the Default album view dropdown menu. Here you can select how to show your images in the album. Currently, there are two options, List View and Grid View, the latter being the default option.

There is also the Weight dropdown menu, whereby you can control how your albums are positioned in a listing. Lighter weights will position your album higher in a list while heavier ones will position lower. For instance, an album with weight 5 will show first in a list than other one with weight 8. There are 20 weight options available from -10 to 10.

In case two or more albums have the same weight they will be positioned under other parameter, like alphabetical order, submit date, etc.

Editor word processor

Another great advantage of Youbioit to make your articles edition easier is the word processor. It works exaclty like a professional word processor software, turning the edition of your articles into an easy task, giving great results since you don´t need any websites programming knowledge to get the same visual results. It is a completely "What you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) system; that means that while editing / writing your article you can see exactly how it will look like. Unlike other editors where code tags, known as BBcode, are shown around your text while editing it instead of showing the real results as in a professional word processor.

Here is an example of this difference:

In simple processors a bold text would look like this while being edited:

[b]My text[/b]

In Youbioit it would look like this while being edited:

My text

Thanks to this word processor, your articles in Youbioit can feature all kind of elements like Tables, manually custom sized images, customized fonts (color, size, font type), text indentation, lists, etc.

Each one of the processor´s tools is described in the following list. Just check the corresponding number for each tool in the image.

1. Bold Text: When turning this option on, your selected text is displayed in bold format.

Example:  All right, big deal, bold text...

2. Italic Text: When turning this option on, your selected text is displayed in italic format.

Example:  Wow what a nice effect!!

7. Lists

Ordered Lists: When you turn this tool on, a numbered list is added. Each time you press Enter a new list item is added.

      Example:

  1. I´m a numbered list item.
  2. Hey "1" , me too. We are funnier than those boring round items.
  3. Yeap, you are right "2". By the way my name is "3".

Unordered List: When you turn this tool on, a round bullet list is added. Each time you press Enter a new list item is added.

      Example:

  • Me too, we are funny and necessary.

8. Text Indentation: These two buttons outdent and indent the text. The left one outdents the text, while the right one indents it.

9. Blockquote: When turned on, it adds a margin to each line, until it is turned off. This tool is used mainly when quoting.

10. Text Align: It aligns the text to the left (default), center, right or justifies it.

11. Font: A drop down menu with a list of font styles.

Example: I´m Comic Sans MS. I´m Times New Roman. I´m Courier New. I´m Verdana.

To edit an already existing link, click over the link text and then press the Insert/Edit button and the pop-up window will open.

The right button of this set is used to destroy links. To disable a link you must select a text or image link and click this button.

15. Insert / Edit Image: You can insert as many images as you want into your text. When pressing this button, a new window pops up. In that window you must insert the image URL. Optionally you can customize the width and height of the image as well as other properties.

To edit an already inserted image, just select the image and click this button.

16. Insert / Edit Table: To insert tables in your text press this button and a new window will pop up. In that window you must specify the table properties, like border width, border color, table width, number of columns, number of rows, etc.

You can also resize your table manually by clicking on it and dragging the resizing squares on the corners, center and middle of the table borders.

      Example:

Row 1, Column 1 Row 1, Column 2
Row 2, Column 1 Row 2, Column 2
Row 3, Column 1 Row 3, Column 2

This is a center aligned 2 rows and 2 columns table, with a width of 50% of the screen, and 2 columns with a width of 50% of the table and a cell padding of 5 pixels (the padding is the space between the cell borders and the text, for instance a 0 padding cell would result in content sticked to the border).

17. Insert Smiley: With this option you can insert smileys in your text.

       Example: , ,

18 Insert Special Characters: With this option you can insert symbols or less frequently used characters

      Example: £, ð, Æ, ®, §, æ

20. Remove Format: With this option you can remove all the applied formats from a text or image without the need of undoing or deleting them. Just select the text or image you want to wipe out those applied formats from and click the Remove Format button.

21. Style: It is a dropdown with text an image styles. To add a style select the text you want to apply that style to, after that choose the style from the dropdown menu. You can add more than one style to a text.

For image styles, like a border, select the image and then choose the style from the dropdown menu.
