The 2,745 acre (about 11 km2) Attean Pond is located in Somerset County, Maine, southwest of the town of Jackman (in western Maine). It is fed by the waters of Moose River and it has over 40 islands. Its surrounding landscape is made up of majestic mountains, such as Attean Mountain to the west, Sally Mountains to the north, and a number of hills to the east and southeast. All this geographical features are covered by dense forests. Attean is part of a complex of ponds linked by Moose River.

To get here from Bangor, Maine, follow Interstate 95 to Fairfield (that is to the southwest of Bangor). Then travel north-northwest on Route 201 to the town of Jackman. From Jackman follow Attean Road about 2.5 miles south to Attean Pond.

Some of the most popular activities in the area include: camping, hiking, canoeing, boating and fishing.
