Pennellville is a small historic district in the southern part of Brunswick. This small village is whithin Brunswick's borders and was settled in the 1760s by Thomas Pennell II, hence the name of the village. Thomas II was a shipwright and his second son, Thomas Pennell III, founded a shipyard in the area. Since then, the history of Pennellville was carved by shipbuilding. The family's next generations carried on the business and built around 70 ships over the century that followed Thomas' times.

Despite the shipyard does not exist anymore, many of the historic Pennell mansions have survived and are still standing.
